I suppose this is the place where I'm supposed to refer to myself in the third person, but each time I've sat down to write this, I've just laughed at my keyboard. *ahem*

Welcome to the Suburban Ghawazee! I am a member of Black Rose Caravan, a tribal fusion troupe based in Fishers, IN. I'm very fortunate to dance with a group of lovely people - the fun and friendship make enjoyment of the dance that much better.

My first class in Oriental style bellydance was in fall 2004 under Jaleela Saleem, the founder of Black Rose Caravan. That class made me fall in love with the form; the tribal class I took next cemented bellydance as the Pastime That Ate My Life. There is something wonderful about the way a group of tribal bellydancers move together - something that is powerful and deeply attractive. The acceptance is also very appealing. I have much more confidence when dancing with my sisters!

Besides, what can I say. My inner ham loves dancing with a sword.
